Overview: LPFT opted to deploy VMware Infrastructure 3 as the core platform for its virtual environment. Leeds deployed four HP BL460 blade servers connected to an HP Storage Works EVA4000 shared storage device. The four VI3 host machines support thirty virtual servers running a range of applications including BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft System Centre Operations Manager, Surfcontrol and a number of File and Print Servers.
To improve disaster recovery capabilities, LPFT redeployed three of its decommissioned physical servers in a newly provisioned DR site three miles away from the main data centre. In order to provide rapid failover between the two sites, CSA Waverley recommended Vizioncore’s vReplicator, a replication solution designed specifically for VMware Infrastructure deployments.
