Overview:
Current proprietary network attached storage (NAS) solutions bundle hardware and software in efforts to hold customers hostage. The three tenets of Red Hat Storage are ASE:
- Access via a unified file and object store (no additional licenses fees needed to access features);
- Scale your NAS both horizontally (by adding more storage nodes, and your choice of commodity off-the-shelf x86 servers) and vertically with the additions of hard drives and JBODs (just a bunch of disks) SAS enclosures all on-demand with zero downtime;
- Extensibility, all open-source with an active developer community to foster greater innovation.
In this 2013 podcast, Solution Architect for Red Hat Sid Wilroy, will go over how Red Hat Storage fits in an enterprise at the petabyte scale for a fraction of the cost of competitors.
