Overview:
Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, needed to automate its cash and liquidity management processes for more effective monitoring and forecasting of intraday positions across multiple payment and settlement systems using real-time data. Previous processes were dependent on a sub-optimal mix of nightly batch updates and manual intraday data extractions, potentially increasing their risk exposure and requiring the bank to maintain higher intraday liquidity with the Central Bank.
After researching existing solutions, the bank chose to jointly develop a solution with advanced real-time analytics vendor, Sybase, utilizing the Sybase Aleri Streaming Platform. And in just a period of months, the results have been significant. Using Sybase Aleri Streaming Platform, the firm has improved their ability to monitor, forecast and analyze cash positions across the enterprise in real-time.
Through increased information visibility and data accuracy, Barclays achieves one of its primary regulatory-oriented goals of mitigating exposure to operational and reputational risk. Read the entire case study now, compliments of Sybase.
