Overview:
Centralized virtual desktops optimize the efficiency, security and flexibility
of any PC environment. They help enterprises of all sizes achieve a wide
array of strategic goals, including significant cost reductions, reducing server
sprawl and the carbon footprint, and simplifying operations. While virtual
desktop infrastructure (VDI) offers great promise, it is always important to
justify a strategic investment.

Are the claims such as “50 percent TCO savings” or “Save up to 40 percent” true? While the market is too young for hard data on TCO reduction, there is growing evidence that centralized virtual desktops do fulfill the promise.

This white paper will look at the current cost of PC management which has
been well-documented by industry experts. It will explore how VDI can
significantly reduce operational costs, and how TCO can vary depending on
industry and user requirements. Finally, there will be a discussion of acquisition costs and how some of these can be avoided or deferred so that a virtual desktop solution can be implemented using existing PC replacement budgets.
