Advent Software is pleased to sponsor the Q4 2008 HedgeFund.net (HFN) Hedge Fund Administrator Survey. Year over year, HFN continues to be an excellent source of current data, news and research for both investors and funds alike. This year's survey provides a glance into the current markets and highlights some of the issues faced within these markets.

With the current headlines surrounding market uncertainties, fraud and possible regulatory changes, it is now more critical than ever for funds to ensure they have the right administrator advocating for their assets. The survey includes data from approximately 60 of the world's largest fund administrators, and collectively accounts for over 98% of the total hedge fund market. The survey shows a decrease in assets for many of the administrators surveyed, yet this is not necessarily due to a loss of clients. While some funds have closed their doors and halted operations, the far greater impact has come from the lower valuations within the world's markets and the conservative marks now placed on hard to value assets. These increasingly more difficult valuations, along with widespread fund restructurings and the increased focus on managing operational risk means this has certainly been a demanding year for fund administrators. Yet, once again, they have performed well within a challenging environment.
