Overview:
This quick little animated video gives you a fast overview of the Intel Xeon Processor 550 Series. It focuses on three major features of Intel's new servers. The first is Turbo Boost Technology, which allows the servers to monitor for surges in demand and automatically respond by increasing the processors' clock frequency. Then there's the Integrated Power Gates, which kind of do the opposite. When the workload is especially light, the processors will automatically reduce to near zero, thereby reducing the resulting power costs when workloads are light. Finally, Intel VT FlexMigration allows the seamless migration of live applications across multiple servers - even if those servers are not the same generation - which really helps out with virtualization initiatives.
