Power systems in today's data centers represent the highest level in optimization for reliability. This is a necessity, since the computer and IT equipment in these facilities and served by these power systems are extremely sensitive to even a momentary loss of power. When a data center has reached the highest level of reliability, those systems qualify as “Tier IV” systems per the Uptime Institute classification system, and boast a representative site availability of 99.99 percent.
